Does anyone actually LIKE crafting in games? #gaming

I don't mean games like Minecraft/Rust where crafting is an essential core mechanic.

Games like Starfield, Red Dead Redemption, Elden Ring, Prey, etc.

I think I first saw this mechanic in Rage and thought why the fuck is this here? Just give me the item. I hate carrying around like 50 random ingredients to make a grenade when I already have 50 grenades. If it's removed from all games but survival I don't think anyone would miss it, am I wrong?

I imagine DOOM having crafting one day and I cringe... like why!?
