Why is Blizzard such a mess and ruining themselves and their Games right now? #gaming
So many things happened in the last few years, and even now the controversies and discussion about frustrating experiences with their games are going strong. Why can a company make so many mistakes and why can't they fix them? Those are only a few examples in the past:
- Hearthstone Hong Kong Controvery 2019, they banned a player for expressing support for the hong kong pretests in an interview.
- Warcraft 3 Reforged, game was plagued with technical issues and missing features, even the diehard fans hated it.
- Heroes of the Storm, they let the game die without supporting it anymore
- Activision Blizzard Lawsuit 2021 -Company accused of promoting a “frat boy” culture that put female employees in the crosshairs
- Employee Walkout 2021, demanding CEO Bobby Kotick removed
- Blizzard Resignations around Jeff Kaplan and Co-Head Jen Oneal and more
- Diablo Immortal Release 2022 - the pay2win fiasco around the mobile game
- Overwatch 2, announced and promised Single player game mode was trashed and the game just got re-released with a battle pass, putting new heroes behind a pay wall.
- Diablo 4, initial hype and a lot of positive reviews, now the endgame and new patch notes nerfing everything make the game a passive grindfest that the players dont seem to like.
There are probably a lot more game-related or company-related stuff but it seems so excessive to me that this company can still fall and fall and fall. Kinda sad really. Why is that? I hope Microsoft can turn it back someday.
